Electron temperature fluctuation measurements with Correlation Electron Cyclotron Emission in L-mode and I-mode plasmas at ASDEX Upgrade

The Correlation Electron Cyclotron Emission (CECE) diagnostic at ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) is used to investigate the features of outer core and pedestal ( ρ pol = 0.85-1.0) turbulence across confinement regime transitions. I-mode a promising operational scenario for future fusion reactors because it high energy without particle confinement, but nature edge in plasmas still under investigation. Weakly Coherent Mode (WCM) appears may play role transport. In this work we explore electron temperature T e ) fluctuations plasma using 24-channel radial resolution CECE radiometer. measurements provide information including fluctuation amplitude, turbulent spectra, localization features. With show that WCM localized region both L-mode measured optically thick with amplitude 2.3%. Broadband drift wave <1%. A second system recently installed AUG allowed non-standard during experiments. was toroidally separated from primary system, allowing long-range toroidal correlation indicating its low mode number. reflectometer sharing line sight enabled density-temperature cross-phase α n Te measurements. changes between as gradient steepens.
